A Small Psalm of Seeking

Lord,
Lord, have mercy,
Lord, have mercy on my soul –
Tears
flow within me for transgressions,
Which leave my soul
Faint and declining
Lord,
Lord, defend me,
Lord, defend me from the curse –
Why
do I moan of grief enslaving,
When only God
Can reign forever?
Now,
Now I bow me,
Now I bow me down to wait –
Speak
to my heart that struggles vainly,
Command my heart:
“Repent in stillness.”
